On 23 March 2020, as a result of the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, the UK governments imposed a stay-at-home order, banning all non-essential travel and closing most gathering places.
The restrictions had begun, social distancing became an essential tool in the fight against the virus. Expressions like remote work, key workers, non-essential activities and self-isolation happened to form part of everyday language.
"Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives" was the slogan chosen by the authorities to spread the message to a dazed and confused British society.
