Lochend Boxing Club, Edinburgh. The gym was founded by Terry McCormack who has been involved in the sport of boxing for over 27 years as a competitor, trainer and coach. He had a goal to open a boxing gym in the area where he was from as he knew it would be a huge benefit for the community. For that, he turned a ramshackle scout hut into one of the Scotland's top gyms.
Lochend has produced many Scottish champs, among them, Josh Taylor, currently the unified light-welterweight champion of the world, but more important is credited with a dramatic drop in crime in one of Edinburgh's toughest housing schemes.
"It takes heart" is the Terry's motto, in his own words "If you give me a kid with a big heart, I will turn him into a champion. You cannot teach that however you can teach the rest".
